Happy Thanksgiving!

As we prepare to head out for turkey, dressing, and all the fixin's I want to leave you with a list of the important things....the things for which I am thankful:

-my faith, family and friends
-my little holy terror who still manages to melt my heart
-my wonderful, WONDERFUL fiance who fits so perfectly in my life...like the last puzzle piece.
-my photography business....that is causing oh so much stress in my life right now....but being such a GREAT blessing in the midst of the madness.
-my health...when you're sick you know just how much you appreciate good health.
-those who have gone before me...paving the way...molding me and playing an important part in shaping my character....leaving behind a legacy. I am forever grateful for the memories.
-gifts and talents....ways of expressing myself and passing on a piece of me to others.

And finally:

-trials. We would never know what victory feels like without a fight.

Time for Christmas Cards!!!!

Spent some time playing around and designing Christmas cards this afternoon. Here is my first design of this year:

Sheri and Mike get to be my example....ooooh, la, la! I love doing digital projects. Just like scrapbooking...only with a computer instead of paper!

If you're interested in Christmas cards, please let me know NO LATER than Decemeber 9. Ordering Christmas cards prior to December 9 guarantees them by December 15. If you are interested in Christmas cards, please e-mail me and we'll talk prices and designs!

Welcome!

Ack! I have entered the blog world! Something new....something fun....one more thing to add to my daily "to-do" list. And you get a peek into the crazy life of a stay-at-home mom (SAHM)trying to be a photographer.

First, let's address the important things. I do love being a SAHM. I guess you could say I love a challenge. Trent is 3. Need I say more? The terrible twos were nothing compared to this! I threaten to put him in daycare daily. But I know for us, me being at home is the best thing for all of us right now. So I suck it up and do the best I can to keep everyone healthy, happy and in clean clothes.

Second, I do love being Gary's fiance. He's fun. Works a lot, but we're learning to cope with that. When you have a 3-year old in the picture and a boyfriend who works 12-hour shifts there isn't time for dating. I'm trying to think of the last time Gary and I went on a date and I think it was 2 months ago. But life is good....and that's all that matters!

And then there's the photography thing. I've always had this habit of doing little odd jobs to earn some extra money. About 2 years ago I decided to try photography. I was living with my parents after the death of my husband and bored out of my mind. So I bought a really nice camera and I haven't put it down since. Seriously. There aren't many times you'll see me without my camera in hand. And at some point it turned into a business. Since then I have photographed a couple weddings, birthday parties, families, children, high school seniors, pets, businesses and much more. Then there is the church directory I am working on for my church (www.unionbaptistnc.com). What I thought was going to be something I did in my free time has turned into a major job that leaves me with NO free time. But all is well and it has been fun. You can view the photos here. I enjoy working with people and taking their photos. I can't say I enjoy getting proofs ready, but in the end it's worth the extra time it takes. I mean, it IS part of the job and it has to be done. So with that said, I do spend anywhere from 4-8 hours on the computer daily. Yikes! And when I DO have free time, I try to catch up on scrapbooking or cardmaking projects. Yes, I do that, too!

Why "The Little Red Chair"? Well, I'm not really sure what to tell you about that. I was trying to find a name that would include my photography and paper art...and whatever else I decide to add in the future. Everything I wanted was taken. So I just chose "The Little Red Chair". I think it's cute and catchy. :)

So that's a hefty welcome, huh?!? I guess I will end it here. Anyone who knows me knows I love to talk, so this blog thing could be dangerous for me. Hopefully I won't bore you to death. And if I do, just make sure you at least check out the photos I post. You'll get to see lots of fun stuff that never makes it over to the website. And if you didn't get here from there....jump over to my website and check it out: The Little Red Chair.

Until later.....
